South Hill Parish Meeting
Cllr Jim Gale, Cornwall Councillor, detailed the latest action concerned with the proposed Solar Farm NW of St Mellion. Also discussions centred on possible future house building in Callington with perhaps a new superstore. Jim pointed out that these plans would do nothing to alleviate the affordable housing needs in local villages in the area.
DRAINAGE OF MADERS FIELD: After inspection it has been determined that the drainage pipes have deteriorated and need replacing. The Parish Council continues to consult with CORMAC to obtain help with this project.
ALLOTMENTS: All the rubbish has gone; the path to be cut on a regular basis, a new sign for the gate has been purchase and will be fitted soon.
ORCHARD: Has been cut recently. An area to the side of the entrance remains unused, discussions centred on what to do with it. If any member of the public has a suggestion it would be most welcome.
THE RECREATIONAL FIELD/ PLAY AREA: ALLOTMENTS: Discussions centred on application for community area funds, to be applied for, with possible match funding from the Solar Fund to allowing additional play area equipment to be purchased. If the public have further suggestions as to which equipment should be purchased they would be most welcome.
PARISH COUNCIL ELECTIONS: Only 7 Parish Councillors to South Hill have been elected. Efforts will continue to find a further 3 councillors by co-option into the council.
