Annual General Meeting
Mr Andy Budd was elected Chairman of the Council.
Mr Geoff Hardman elected as Vice Chairman
The Tamar to Moors Community Area Partnership (CAP) representative will be Mr Andy Budd
The Hall Committee representative Mr Dennis Hicks
There being no other business the meeting was then closed.
South Hill Parish Meeting
DRAINAGE OF MADERS FIELD: After inspection it has been determined that the drainage pipes have deteriorated and need replacing. A quote for the work has been obtained, further ones will be sought. The Parish Council will also consult with Cornwall Council to determine if financial help can be obtained to meet the cost
THE RECREATIONAL FIELD/ PLAY AREA: The Springy Chicken will be completed soon (see additional item). The ROSPER safety report has been obtained and will be reviewed by councillors to decide if action is needed; no urgent matters. Holes in the playing field need to be filled in, colts to be contacted.
ALLOTMENTS: Removal of rubbish, main path strimming, hedge to be cut and stopping water ingress at the entrance will be dealt with soon. Permission to keep chickens on an allotment was granted providing appropriate welfare of the animals is maintained.
PARISH COUNCIL ELECTIONS: Only 7 Parish Councillors to South Hill have been elected. Notices were circulated to find a further 3 councillors by co-option for display on Notice boards.
FOOTPATHS: The continuing lack of access through the footpath at the Woodlands was discussed. Cllr Jim Gale offered to take up the case with Cornwall Council.
Annual Parish Meeting
REPORTS GIVEN:
Mr Dennis Rowland, Cornwall Resources, detailed the continuing plans for the Redmoor Tungsten-Tin-Copper Project. Funding has been obtained for further holes to be drilled in the project area.
Cllr Jim Gale, Cornwall Councillor, detailed the latest action at County Hall with the Liberal/Independent coalition forming the council. Details of the planned houses in Cornwall were given plus the need for social housing and the number of empty properties. The council’s debt was mentioned plus the reduced allocation for the Lynher Division Community Chest from £3,000 to £1,400.
Mrs Ali Humphreys: Detailed that £18,500 had been collected by Recycling for Charity since the start 6 yrs ago. The main charity is Kicks Count with the aim to reduce UK stillbirths. On 20 May there will be a cutting of the ribbon at Brunel School Saltash for the new Playground. Funding of a wheelchair for the charity Freddies Friends was also provided.
Mr Chris Beckett, Chairman of Parish Hall Committee, detailed that the Hall is now a CIO. The plans for an extended Hall have been approved and will be displayed in the Hall at the 24 May event for which volunteers were still needed. It is estimated that around £250,000 will be needed to complete the extension with further costs for extending car parking at the Hall.
